Sit and Relax Activities

Throw Down (Scripture/Catholic Teaching Connection - 1st Corinthians 1:10 “Groups and Slogans” / Christian Unity)

Give everyone several pieces of paper (this can be any kind of paper and does not have to be blank) and sit in a circle.  Have everyone think of things about themselves that everyone else would NOT have in common with them.  On their turn, each person will reveal one thing about themselves.  Everyone else decides if they have that in common with them or not.  If they do, then they do nothing. However, if they do not then they crumple one of their papers and throw it into the middle of the circle.  The one left with the most paper at the end wins.  **Save the crumpled paper for other activities**

Who Am I? (Scripture/Catholic Teaching Connection - 1st Corinthians 1:10 “Groups and Slogans” / Christian Unity)

Give everyone a piece of paper to write 3 – 5 things about themselves.  Place all the papers in a hat and have everyone draw a piece.  That person tries to guess who they think wrote the things.  This can just be a fun way to share things about yourself with one another that you may never have shared before.

M & M’s (Scripture/Catholic Teaching Connection - 1st Corinthians 1:10 “Groups and Slogans” / Christian Unity)

Pass a bowl full of M & M’s around the room.  Instruct the family to take some of the chocolate treats, but don’t eat them and they can take as many as they want.  Once everyone has selected the delicious candies, tell the family that they will share one piece of information about themselves for each M & M they took from the bowl.  Your children may grab an entire handful of M&M’s and then learn they have to share one thing about themselves for each one they took.  This can be funny as they really have to get creative and think about different things to share.

Drawing With Your Mind’s Eye

Everyone sits on the floor with a blank sheet of paper.  The leader tells everyone to close their eyes and dictates to them a picture which they are to draw with their eyes closed.  The masterpieces can be displayed for the remainder of the day.  Several teachings can go along with this activity depending on what you choose to have your family draw.  This can also just be a fun a comical way to pass the time.
